Gigabyte akhirnya merilis mainboard dengan spesifikasi tertinggi untuk mendukung processor AMD Bulldozer socket AM3+ dengan merilis GA-990FXA-UD7. Didesain berdasarkan Chipset AMD 9 Series yaitu 990FX (nothbridge) dan SB950 (southbridge). Gigabyte GA-99FXA-UD7 support bus hyper transport 5200 MT/s dan masih menjaga kompabilitas untuk processor AMD Athlon II maupun AMD Phenom II. Sistem memory mempergunakan dual channel DDR3 dengan kapasitas maksimum 32 GB yang bisa diaplikasikan melalui 4 slot DIMM.
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 mendukung multi GPU baik AMD CrossFireX ataupun NVIDIA SLI dengan memasang slot PCI Express 2.0. Untuk urusan tata suara Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 menyertakan Realtek ALC889 codec dan mendukung Dolby Home Theater.
Teknologi transfer data super speed USB 3.0 ditangani oleh chip Etron EJ168 sedangkan dukungan USB 2.0 tetap dihadirkan melalui SB950. Selain itu SB950 mendukung SATA 6 Gbps dan RAID 0, 1, 5 dan 10. Selain itu Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 tentu saja mendukung overclocking melalui sejumlah fitur berikut :
